CATS Soon Shim: a Japanese female group !

Formed as the 2nd Reds, CATS is a 4-member female group, who debuted with the song "Baby Cats".
Recently, news that CATS member Soon Shim can understand Japanese is circulating. Because her pronunciation and intonation of Korean are perfect, no one was aware that she is in fact a Japanese! She even was a singer in Japan.
"We are currently active in Korea but our goal is to be also known in Japan", commented CATS, also wanting to make a name for themselves in the country where one of their members started her career.

Sun-min's 2nd Japanese Single Reaches

Sun Min, the singer who has been receiving attention for the theme song of the movie, “The Foundering of Japan,” has released her second single in Japan.

Last year, Sun Min sang the theme song for “The Foundering of Japan” called “Keep Holding You,” with famous Japanese singer/song-writer Kubota Toshinobu. She sang the Korean version of the duet with Shinhwa member Shin Hye-sung.

Sun Min released her first Japanese single, “Koinokiseki” on December 6 last year.

She released her 2nd Japanese single, “Love You,” on the 28th and will begin full-scale promotions.

“Love You” is a heart-felt ballad. Before the release of the single, it gained popularity in Japan as the opening song of Fuji TV’s show “Friday Prestige,” which airs all over Japan.

Apart from “Love You,” Sun Min has also gained popularity with “The Rose,” the theme song from another Fuji TV show. “The Rose” is a remake of the Bette Midler classic and is also included as a bonus track on Sun-min’s new single.

“The Rose” gained massive popularity and placed 2nd on the Japanese Cable Foreign Song Chart during the 4th week of February and reached the top spot in the last week of February.

Sun Min is thankful for the support she’s received and promised to work hard for her fans.

Asian Actress and Female Pop Singer,Ivy To Act in Drama

Asian Actress and Female Pop Singer, Ivy will star in a 4-part drama, entitled "Tokyo Sun Shower". The sexy singer, whose current single, "Seduction Sonata", is enjoying popularity in the music world, will transform into an actress and star in the Phantom Entertainment Group-produced 4-part drama late this month. She has starred in her own music videos and made guest appearances on sitcoms, but this will be her first role in a drama.

"Tokyo Sun Shower" will be shot late this month and continue throughout April in Tokyo. The drama also stars Kim Sarang, Kim Tae-woo and Japanese actress Okuda Erika. Ivy plays the role of a Korean-Japanese character who works at a sushi restaurant but dreams of being a singer. Ivy will sing for her role, but the drama is not a glorified music video. Ivy will fly back and forth from Korea to Japan starting this month and the drama is set to air sometime after May.

Asian Female Singer,Chae Yeon To Release Official 4th Album

Korean Female Singer,Chae Yeon is scheduled to make a comeback among sexy korean female stars with a fourth album this week. The new work is her first in one year and four months. Having completed her "Third Love" project last year, she began working on her new album. The title song will be a dance track created by korean composer Kim Chang-won, who already collaborated with her on her hit "The Two in Love." We're seeing many female Korean artists returning these days, with Lee Hyo-lee, Seo In-young, Ivy and Chae Yeon. They're livening up the music world, for sure!

Congrats to Bajan super star Rihanna, who yesterday copped the award of World's Best Selling Pop Female Artiste at the 2007 World Music Awards in Monte Carlo, Monaco, beating out Beyoncé and Shakira.
Rihanna arrived at the awards resplendent in a mermaid-styled gown.
The show was taped and will be broadcast later in 160 countries. It is expected to reach approximately one billion viewers. Proceeds from a black-tie banquet and auction before the awards are to go toward building a hospital in the strife-torn Darfur region of Sudan.

Sofia Vergara was born in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Colombia. Her mother is a homemaker and her father produced cattle for the meat industry. Swedish Singer September Dances her Hot Debut in China

Visiting Swedish female singer September, was introduced and debuted in China at a press conference at the Guangdong Audio and Video City in Guangzhou on the afternoon of May 11.
The event was co-organized by the Consulate General of Sweden in Guangzhou and Guangdong Audio and Video City in order to promote Swedish music in China and to improve the musical co-operation between both countries.

September is considered one of the present aces of music and dance in Sweden and even in Europe.

XANDRIA is playing music gothic metal

THE NAME released two albums so far; “Remedy” in 2004 with former singer Denise and “Recognition” in 2006 with new singer Hadassa. Hadassa has a clear voice, which is in contrast with the sometimes (grunt) vocals of guitarist Silas. Best songs tonight were “Remedy” with its changing rhythms and the brutal sounding “Lies“. Hilarious was their heavy version of the BRITNEY SPEARS song “Hit Me Baby One More Time”. Furthermore, we got to hear a couple of new songs. I’m very curious what their new album will sound like, but for tonight their mission to promote THE NAME has been quite successful.

Then it’s time for XANDRIA. It is a shame, they never toured Holland before, despite the release of four albums already. How long can you keep your fans waiting and still hope they will buy your records? Well, they were definately worth waiting for. Lisa and her mates were in a good mood and after the first notes of “Now And Forever”, people almost directly started dancing to their gothic metal kind of sound. Despite this show was mainly to promote their new album “Salome”, their previous albums were not forgotten. From the band’s first album “Kill The Sun”, they played the tittletrack and the fabulous “Isis/Osiris”. Surprisingly enough, the songs played tonight sounded much heavier than the original versions on the album. From the album “Ravenhart”, we got to hear the beautiful ballad “Eversleeping” and the band saved the favorites “Ravenhart” and “Blackflame” for the encores. From the third album “India”, they represented five songs, and amongst them were titletrack “India” and “Fight Me”. Somewhere in the middle of the show, singer Lisa was left alone on stage and she did an Irish folk song. During this song it’s obvious what an incredible voice she has! The songs off the new album sound very good live and are a bit heavier than we’re used to. Braxton was born in Severn, MD, on October 7, 1968. The daughter of a minister, she was raised mostly in the strict Apostolic faith, which prohibited not only all popular culture, but also pants in women’s wardrobes. Encouraged by their mother, an operatically trained vocalist, Braxton and her four sisters began singing in church as girls; although gospel was the only music permitted in the household, the girls often watched Soul Train when their parents went shopping. Braxton’s parents later converted to a different faith, and eased their restrictions on secular music somewhat, allowing Braxton more leeway to develop her vocal style; because of her husky voice, she often used male singers like Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, and Michael McDonald as models, as well as Chaka Khan. Braxton had some success on the local talent-show circuit, continuing to sing with her sisters, and after high school studied to become a music teacher. However, Braxton soon dropped out of college after she was discovered singing to herself at a gas station by songwriter Bill Pettaway (who co-authored Milli Vanilli’s “Girl You Know It’s True”). With Pettaway’s help, Braxton and her sisters signed with Arista Records in 1990 as a group dubbed simply the Braxtons.

Music Nominees at 21st Nick Kids' Choice Awards Announced!

Stacy Ferguson aka Fergie receives the most nods in the music field of Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2008. The singer who last year was nominated along with her group, Black Eyed Peas, is now claiming two kudos for her solo works.

Beside nominated for Female Singer, Fergie is also vying for the Song category through her hit single "Big Girls Don't Cry". In the former category, she will have to face Beyonce Knowles, who won the title last year, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys. Meanwhile for the latter, her song is competing against Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls", Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" and Akon's "Don't Matter".

Frequent winner Justin Timberlake also makes the list this year despite not releasing any album last year. The pop singer is the contender of Male Singer along with younger artists like Chris Brown, Soulja Boy and Bow Wow. Under the category Music Group, Jonas Brothers who appeal to teenagers have successfully taken a spot which they share with Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy and Boys Like Girls.

Hosted by Jack Black, the 21st Annual Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards also choose favorites on other fields too such as TV, books and movies.
